5 unfinished landmarks all over the world

It takes a huge capital and hard work for years to build any landmark or monument. Despite all the facts, sometimes the construction ends in middle and left unfinished markers. There are many reasons behind these incomplete constructions, for example, lack of funds, lack of manpower and even deaths of workers in the construction process. But sometimes you get amazed seeing these incomplete constructions which later become a desire to visit for millions of tourists.

Here are the top five unfinished landmarks from all the corners of the world we are beautiful just the way they were left:

  1. Bara Kaman

Situated in Bijapur (Viajayapura) in India, Bara Kaman is an unfinished mausoleum of Ali Adil Shah II.  He was the second last king of Adil Shah Dynasty.  Bara Kaman means ’12 arches’ and the monument was supposed to be made up with 12 arches vertically and horizontally in the surrounding. The construction of this mausoleum began in 1672 and it had remained incomplete because of the King’s murder by his own father.

  1. Mingun Pahtodawgyi

In Northwestern Burma, there is a small town called Mingun where Mingun Pahtodawgyi lies. This gigantic pagoda construction was initiated in 1790 by King Bodawpaya which never gets completed. The King gained many prisoners and slaves during his the wars that he used for the construction of this large project. Because of the toll on the state’s finance while constructing this landmark had stopped its establishment process.

The incomplete Mingun Pahtodawgyi is 50 meters (164 ft) in height and spread with a base of 42 square meters. It is also known as one of the largest brickwork and stone pillars in the world.

  1. Hassan Tower

It a massive minaret also known as Tour Hassan lies in the capital city of Morocco which is Rabat. The construction was started by Yaqub al-Mansur order in the 12th century. It was expected to be the tallest minaret in the world with a mosque. Unfortunately, the project went to a stop after the death of al-Mansur.  The tower is 44 meters high with 200 columns built on marble floors and in 2012, it was granted as a World Heritage center.

  1. Crazy Horse Memorial

High in the hills of South Dakota, the incomplete and marvelous piece or man-made architect Crazy Horse Memorial lies. It was the time of 1948 when Korczak Ziolkowski worked for Crazy Horse Memorial construction till his death in 1982. This giant project was started with a motive to carve a memorial monument for all the native North Americans. It was supposed to be a representation of the Lakota leader Crazy Horse. Most of the carving went through the head area only while the rest of the part has remained incomplete.

  1. Ta Keo

It is located in the ancient city of Angkor with five sanctuary towers exhibited in a pyramid form. It could have been a mountain-temple claimed as the greatest and largest sacred monument all over the world, but unfortunately, it is incomplete.

This large monument is made up of sandstone and the reason for not being completed is still a mystery. The inscription carved on the walls of the temple depicts that lighting struck on the temple is a reason to put a stop in its completion process. Even unfinished, this temple is a picturesque site with an extraordinary feature of architecture.
